2nd Ultrasound....IT'S A BOY!!!!

We had our third doctor's appointment today and our second ultrasound. I got to see Dr. Gerwe again and the visit went well (except for the joke he played on me....I will get him back). I have finally gained weight. I am up 6 pounds, which I thought was a lot for one month but the nurse said that it was not much, especially considering I am half way through my pregnancy and that is all I have gained. My urinalysis was normal and I got blood drawn to test for neural tube defects. Those results should be back in the next week. We got to hear the heartbeat again - it was around 140.

Our second ultrasound was this afternoon, which revealed that we are having a BOY!!!! Jimmie was shocked because he was convinced we were having a girl. I can't say that I was very shocked though, I've said for some time that I thought we would have a boy. My mom ("Mimi"), my grandmother, Aunt Samantha, and Aunt Rebekah joined us for the ultrasound. It was incredible. We got to see his heart (all 4 chambers), lungs, stomach, and bladder. All major organs that they were looking for were present and in the correct location. He was kicking his legs like a little frog and kept moving his arms.

He has gotten so big since the last ultrasound that his entire body will no longer fit in one picture. He is estimated to weigh 9 ounces and is approximately 10 inches long!

During the ultrasound, he would move his hand towards his face. The nurse said that he could be trying to get his thumb to his mouth....
