40 WEEKS PREGNANT

Pregnancy photo #10, December 7th, 40 weeks.

After 40 long weeks, my due date is finally here! What an exciting experience this pregnancy has been. Now we just cannot wait to meet Samuel.
Our weekly visits to the OB’s office continue. Over the past 4 weeks we have had a lot of activity…

November 15th: Saw Dr. Jacobs for regular check-up. My urinalysis and BP were normal. Samuel’s heart rate was great, approximately 148. No dilation or effacing yet. Dr. Jacobs estimates that Samuel will weigh between 7-7.5 pounds.
November 23rd: Saw Dr. Darpel for regular check-up. My urinalysis and BP continue to be normal. Samuel’s heart rate is great. We are finally starting to see progress…I am approximately 70% effaced but 0 cm dilated.
November 29th: Saw Dr. Jackson for regular check-up. My urinalysis and BP are normal. Samuel’s heart rate is perfect. No changes in effacement or dilation since last week.
December 7th: Our official due date! Saw Dr. Jackson for regular check-up. My urinalysis and BP are normal. Samuel’s heart rate is perfect. Dr. Jackson decided to induce labor tonight! See the next blog for those exciting details. =)

Samuel is a very active little guy! He is definitely growing because I can feel him digging in my rib cage more and more each month. The past 4 weeks have been rough. I had a sinus infection in early November that was pretty miserable…lots of coughing, sore throat, and stuffy nose. The worst part about being pregnant is not being able to take much medication for this. I finally had to see my family physician to get an antibiotic. My heartburn continues and I am having relatively frequent contractions. I have had several headaches, including a migraine, in the past month. Jimmie and I were both on vacation the week of Thanksgiving and spent that week doing last minute preparation for Samuel’s arrival. With Jimmie’s help, I was also able to get the house decorated for Christmas (including all 3 Christmas trees).

My third and final baby shower was held on November 20. Knoxville Baptist Church had the shower for me and it was hosted by my neighbor and friend, Cassie Landrum. Jimmie and I continue to be overwhelmed with all of the love and support that we have been shown over the past 40 weeks. We are lucky to have such a wonderful and generous church family.
